Open Enrollment Instructions & Tips

The Douglas County School District embraces parent and student choice by offering a wide variety of pathways to learning, including neighborhood schools, charter, magnet, and online schools and home education options.

Families who wish to enroll their student in a school other than their neighborhood school must use this tool to request Open Enrollment during one of two open enrollment periods DCSD offers annually. You do not need to use this open enrollment tool to stay at your school of current enrollment.   

For the 2024-2025 School Year:

**First Round Open Enrollment closes on December 2nd, 2024 at 4:00pm.**
 
**Second Round Open Enrollment runs from January 22, 2025 at 8:00am through August 1, 2025 at 4:00pm.  If a student was put on the waitlist during the first round, they will still be on that list for the second round. So NO NEED to fill out another application!**
 -Reminders-
  • If your student/s are currently enrolled at CRE via Open Enrollment there is no need to fill out an OE application! They will automatically roll into the next grade served at CRE as we are now your home school! If you have an OE 6th grader that you would like to attend our feeder Middle School Mesa, you will have to open enroll them into Mesa.
  • If you are an Open Enrolled family with students that currently attend CRE and have a kindergartener who you would like to attend CRE next year, you MUST open enroll your kindergartener as well. PLEASE try and have younger siblings open enrolled as soon as possible to have the best chances of securing their spot! First round open enrollment is best in these cases!

**La Primera Ronda de Inscripción Abierta cerrará el 2 de diciembre 2024 a las 4:00 pm.**

**La Segunda Ronda de Inscripción Abierta será del 22 de enero de 2025 a las 8:00 am hasta el 1 de agosto de 2025 a las 4:00 pm. Si un estudiante quedó en la lista de espera durante la primera ronda, permanecerá en esa lista para la segunda ronda. ¡Así que NO ES NECESARIO completar otra solicitud!**

-Recordatorios-

  • Si su(s) estudiante(s) está(n) actualmente inscrito(s) en CRE a través de Inscripción Abierta, no es necesario completar otra solicitud. Automáticamente pasarán al siguiente grado ofrecido en CRE, ya que ahora somos su escuela base. Si tiene un estudiante de 6.º grado inscrito por Inscripción Abierta y desea que asista a nuestra escuela secundaria, Mesa, deberá inscribirlo en Mesa a través de Inscripción Abierta.
  • Si es una familia de Inscripción Abierta con estudiantes actualmente en CRE y tiene un hijo en edad de kindergarten que desea que asista a CRE el próximo año, DEBE inscribir a su hijo de kindergarten también. ¡Por favor, intente inscribir a los hermanos menores lo antes posible para tener las mejores posibilidades de asegurar su lugar! La primera ronda de inscripción abierta es la mejor opción en estos casos.
